Indian bikes
We take the history of the web page after 1955-85 era Floyd Clymer (who died in 1970) and his lawyer held the names and marks for use on their Indian made English and Italian (resulting in prototype stillborn Ducati Indiana, 1975), the lines were allowed a Taiwanese company to make mini-bikes. After some successful initial production has ceased and by 1980 's trademark has been sort of lost in the sense that many different people, most of the time individual businesses catering, used the mark.
To some extent it had fallen into the public domain and there was no legal thread to follow. By early 1990 's with the heavy cruiser and touring grond, several parties began to dispute the ownership of the names and logos. These court battles have taken place in the United States and Canada. Some rip-men and even the band of crack cow aboriginals of Umpqua Tribe of Oregon to claim the legal title (the first time that Indians had become involved with Indian motorcycles.) Indigenous called Dreams smoked at least three parties (the group of two men to defraud Philip Zhang and Wayne Baughman) senior pipe a new leader, but these bikes have never got beyond the prototype stage. The first pictures show some of the counts made in 1994 IMMI. The photos below (courtesy of Canadian cyclist and bike shop classical) model include a wooden engine! Cynics have called him Indian wood and they were right!. I like the look of the frame and shock absorbers, however (compare the big ugly rear shock on the head 1999-2003) and the chain was back on correct sides. The other photos are later in time than the model in wood and are real, current machines.
